Sneakin' Suspicion

Rhythm & Blues Band

Sneakin' Suspicion are a well established Rhythm & Blues band that play their own take on "The Blues" across Yorkshire.  They pay homage to such greats as Jimmy Reed, Peter Green, Freddy King, Canned Heat and many more.

With a combined 120 years worth of live gigging experience between them Sneakin' can  guarantee an excellent evening of Blues/Rhythm & Blues.

John Shaw

Rhythm/Slide Guitar & Vocals

John is the Band leader and the main contact for all of the bookings. He is an accomplished musician whose speciality is playing the slide guitar; he's no slouch on the lead guitar either and will drop in the odd solo when he's given the nod. He can also be found playing Mandolin, Banjo, Bouzouki and anything else with strings on it; but as these are the Devil's instruments and we are a Rhythm and Blues band there is no space for them here!

Paul Winn

Vocals & Blues Harp

Paul is simply obsessed with the "Blues Harp" and is still undecided whether or not this is a healthy obsession. He owns more Harps than he dare admit to and will ever play but like most musicians you can never have enough gear, just in case! Like all "serious" Harp players Paul has been striving (and still striving) to perfect his tone, he has also wasted large amounts of money over the years trying to achieve this. His current gigging rig is a Fender Bassman 1959 Re-Issue that has been modded for Harp and a vintage Shure PE54 Microphone - to date he is happy with this set up and the big FAT sound it gives him! (He'll also be delighted to talk to anyone after a gig if they want any information on Harps etc) Paul also sings a bit and will often drop insightful information on how his week has been to any audience that is prepared to listen.

Blues Harps

Lee Oskar Major Diatonic (main gigging Harp)

Hohner Marine Band Deluxe (excellent for acoustic work)

Dannecker Blues Harp (Customised hand built Harmonica)

Hohner Marine Band 14 hole (for the deep sound)

Hohner Marine Band/Big River (cheaper pratice Harps)

Harp Microphones

Shure PE54 - 1970's Pistol Grip (Main Gigging Mic)

Shure 545 - 1970's vintage (Backup Gigging Mic)

Shure Harp Commando - Customised 1970's vintage (Rarely Used)

    Customised Turner Vintage (Rareley Used)

Silverface Fender Pro Jr 15W 1x10" (Revalved for Harp) combo

Nick Shaw

Lead Guitar & Vocals

Nick is quite simply an electrifying Guitarist from the old school, you will never hear two solo's the same and he can also sing a bit.

Guitars
Main - Gibson Les Paul(black) 1978
spare - Fender Stratocaster (sunburst) 1972
acoustic - Fender F-25 1973-4ish

Amp
Mesa Boogie Rocket 44

Effects
Zoom 505
Denio DR80 Delay

Tony Taffinder

Bass Guitar

Tony plays many instruments: guitar, bass guitar, drums, bouzouki, tenor banjo, mandolin, brass, fiddle, flute, whistles, harmonica, bodhran ... with English and Anglo concertina and Scottish small pipes in development.

Like John we don't allow Tony to play these instruments with Sneakin as they are pure evil!

Dave Hanstock

Drums

Dave rejoined Sneakin' Suspicion in mid 2008 after a break of 3 years, he brings a wealth of experience and provides a solid no nonsense back beat to the band.  With Dave back in the frame the band has now found another dimension and have added a number of new songs to the set,
